Castel unveils 34-E valve series for high-efficiency refrigeration systems
VIMERCATE (MB), Lombardia, Italia, 7 April 2025: Castel, manufacturer of refrigeration and air conditioning components, launched the 34-E valve series, which the company said has been developed for use in refrigeration systems operating with CO₂ (R744) refrigerant in transcritical conditions.

Making the announcement through a Press Release, Castel said the 34-E valves are electronic devices designed to regulate pressure with high precision across various points in refrigeration systems. The company said the valves are suitable for multiple applications, including pressure regulation in gas coolers, as flash gas bypass valves, expansion valves for evaporators and as pressure regulators in suction lines.
Castel said the design of the 34-E valves is intended to improve pressure and temperature management within the system, ultimately contributing to higher overall efficiency. The company highlighted the eco-friendly nature of CO₂ as a refrigerant, citing its low global warming potential (GWP), and noted that the valves were developed to maximise the performance of such systems while minimising energy consumption.
The company said the 34-E valve structure incorporates several components – control valve, filter, ball valve and charging port – into a single unit. This integration, Castel explained, aims to reduce the number of separate parts required, streamlining installation processes.
Castel also described maintenance as a key consideration in the product’s design. The version with an integrated ball valve is intended to allow for filter cleaning, component replacement and system inspection without full valve removal. According to the company, this feature is designed to reduce system downtime and improve operational continuity. Castel also pointed to the compact design as a means of minimising refrigerant leak risks and lowering system costs.
The company said each 34-E valve undergoes individual leak and reliability testing and is resistant to pressures up to 140 bar. The product is certified in accordance with the European Directive 2014/68/EU (PED) and relevant international standards, Castel said.
Castel said the 34-E series offers a combination of energy efficiency, simplified maintenance and safety. The company cited over 60 years of industry experience and a global presence in over 90 countries as part of its ongoing efforts to deliver innovation in support of what it described as “a Greener Future”.
