Refrigerants Review
The campaign aims to sustain attention on a topic that has assumed criticality following the persistent calls for accelerated climate action. The topic of refrigerants is a complex one, with multiple layers to it. The endeavour is to address the range and depth of the subject against the backdrop of an ambitious global transition to climate-friendly and safer refrigerants. The coverage would include attempting to understand prevailing mindsets and barriers to the transition; the scope and extent of intervention; the regulatory landscape to facilitate the transition; the need for nuance to protect the interests of manufacturers, building owners and other stakeholders; the need for surveillance for protecting fair trade and for safeguarding the health and wellbeing of end-users and technicians; and the need for monitoring progress.
IEQ & Fertility
If the dark days of COVID-19 heightened the sense of awareness on Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) – Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), in particular– the aftermath has been a mixed bag; whilst a small section of the stakeholder-population has sustained the interest, globally speaking, it is business as usual for the rest. Truly, the treatment meted out to IEQ has been disheartening. It is in this midst that we launch this Editorial Campaign, to establish the deep relevance of IEQ, not only from a disease control point of view but also from a life-sustaining perspective. We express gratitude to Dr Iyad Al-Attar, IAQ and air filtration consultant, and to Peter Cantone, the Founder of Smart Air Defense, for their leadership in assembling a team of specialists towards the aim of gathering insights on IEQ, reproductive health and intervention measures that can lead to successful fertility outcomes. It is hoped that the insights will shape thinking among the stakeholder community responsible for building, installing, operating and maintaining built environments not only in healthcare but in all building profiles, for the success of outcomes depends on not only the sterile environments of hospitals and specialty clinics but also on the healthy nature of our homes and offices.
