Bill to scrap Environmental Protection Agency introduced in the United States

United States President, Donald Trump has been critical of the agency since his foray into the presidential race

Washington DC, United States: According to a report on NYDailyNews.com, a bill to abolish the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been introduced in the Congress by a Florida-based lawmaker, Rep. Matt Gaetz, just weeks after the United States President, Donald Trump, announced financial cutback to the Agency.

Trump, the report said, had first suggested doing away with the 47-year-old agency during a February 2016 debate. The report quoted him as saying: “Environmental protection — we waste all of this money. We’re going to bring that back to the states,” during the debate.

If the bill is passed, an article in the Northwest Florida Daily News said that EPA would stop functioning by 2018. “The EPA has been doing some drastic things,” the article quoted Gaetz as saying. “They have exceeded their original mission substantially under both Republican and Democratic presidents and violated the sovereignty of the states. I think we need to start fresh.”
