Atlas Copco launches new high-efficiency claw vacuum pumps for versatile applications

DZS 600 VSD+ and DZS 1200 VSD+ pumps designed for energy efficiency and long operating life in demanding environments

COLOGNE, Germany, 5 May 2025: Atlas Copco announced through a Press Release the release of its new DZS 600 VSD+ and DZS 1200 VSD+ vacuum pumps, which the company described as high-performance, dry, oil-free claw pumps suited for a range of rough vacuum applications. According to Atlas Copco, these pumps combine energy efficiency with simple control and maintenance, and are especially well-suited for use in CNC routing, pneumatic conveying systems and central vacuum systems, such as those found in hospitals.

Atlas Copco stated that the dry claw vacuum pumps have been engineered for a long service life and minimal resource consumption. The modular design comprises a pump chamber and gear chamber, separated by seals, the company said. Atlas Copco explained that two claws rotate contactlessly in opposite directions within the pump housing, compressing air without friction or lubrication. The company added that the claws are synchronised by gear wheels, allowing the air to be drawn in, compressed and expelled with minimal wear.

Atlas Copco stated that a non-return valve integrated into the inlet flange prevents air backflow when the pump is switched off. The company elaborated that direct drive is achieved through a flange-mounted motor with coupling.

“The DZS VSD+ are simple and modular in design,” said Ahmed Elshaffie, Product Manager, Atlas Copco. He added that the wetted parts and rotors are specially coated to enable energy-efficient, low-wear operation.

Each unit features an integrated VSD+ inverter drive with pressure setpoint control, stated Atlas Copco. The company noted that this allows the pumps to operate at high rotor speeds, automatically adjusting motor speed to match the process load. “The DZS 600 VSD+ and DZS 1200 VSD+ models can run continuously at their ultimate vacuum level without overheating,” said Elshaffie.

Atlas Copco also highlighted the compact dimensions of the pumps, making them suitable where installation space is limited.

Users can monitor and control the DZS VSD+ series in real-time via the Atlas Copco VSD+ mobile app for iOS and Android, said Atlas Copco. According to the company, the app facilitates parameter tracking and simplifies commissioning by allowing users to set target pressure, stop/start delay and stop level via Bluetooth connectivity.

“We have been using the robust, reliable claw technology in vacuum technology and other areas for many years,” Elshaffie said. Atlas Copco stated that the DZS 600 VSD+ and DZS 1200 VSD+ models are designed to provide dependable and uninterrupted operation, supporting customers in their long-term process requirements.

Key Features of the DZS VSD+ Models:

  • Vacuum relief valve prevents overheating during extended operation
  • Inlet non-return valve isolates the pump from the process on shutdown
  • Integrated silencer to minimise workplace noise
  • VSD+ inverter drive for pressure setpoint control
  • PEEKCOAT coating on wetted parts and rotor for durability
  • Remote control and monitoring via the Atlas Copco VSD+ app
