AMCA announces technical seminars

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Illinois, United States, 16 February 2024:  Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) International announced that its three-seminar series is set to begin on March 8. Making the announcement through a Press release, AMCA said March will see the return of “Fan and Blower Applications Engineering I: Foundations” (formerly “Fan Applications Engineering Foundations”), the first instalment in the Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) International online technical-seminar series taught by Ron Wroblewski, PE, President, Productive Energy Solutions, and William (Bill) Howarth, President, Ventilation and Fan Consulting Service International LLC.

AMCA said the seminar series will be a combination of live virtual instruction and self-paced online learning and added that the Spring 2024 edition of “Fan and Blower Applications Engineering I: Foundations” will be held on March 8, March 15, March 22, and March 29, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. CST. AMCA said that students who complete all program requirements will receive 18 professional-development-hour (PDH) credits.

AMCA said the Spring 2024 edition of “Fan and Blower Applications Engineering I: Foundations” will be followed by a presentation of “Fan and Blower Applications Engineering II: Troubleshooting and Efficiency” (formerly “Analysing Fan- and Blower-System Performance: Troubleshooting and Efficiency [Level 2]”) beginning in mid-April and the launch of “Fan and Blower Applications Engineering III: Verification and Optimisation” this summer.

According to AMCA, “Fan and Blower Applications Engineering I: Foundations” is comprised of the following modules:

· Fan and System Curves

· Pressure Considerations in Fan Systems

· Fan Affinity Laws Simplified

· Motors

· Centrifugal- and Axial-Fan Characteristics

· Losses in Elbows and Ducts

· Fan-System Controls

· Pressure Losses and Duct Systems

· System Effect in Fan Systems

· Power and Compressibility of Fans

· Fan Affinity Laws Advanced

· Certified Ratings and Fan Selection

In addition to course-specific workbooks and notes, AMCA said, “Fan and Blower Applications Engineering I: Foundations” students will receive a digital copy of the AMCA Fan Application Manual, which consists of AMCA publications 200, Air Systems; 201, Fans and Systems; 202, Troubleshooting; and 203, Field Performance Measurement of Fan Systems.

AMCA said the cost to enrol in “Fan and Blower Applications Engineering I: Foundations” is USD 699 for AMCA members, USD 999 for non-members, and USD 349 for students (proof of enrollment required).
