More than 275 manufacturers in 30 countries around the world are enrolled in the AMCA CRP, association says
Arlington Heights, Illinois, USA, 25 June 2018: The Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) International’s “Certified Ratings Program” (CRP) has certified 4,000 air-system products from around the world, the association said in a Press communiqué. This milestone has been 75 years in the making, the communiqué said.
AMCA International certifies 24 types of air-movement and control products, including fans, dampers, louvres, air curtains, airflow-measurement devices and ducts, through its CRP, the communiqué said. Each product is series-produced, which means it is designed and fabricated for general-purpose installations in commercial, industrial and residential facilities, the communiqué further said.
According to AMCA, certification through the AMCA CRP is assurance a product line has been tested and rated in conformance with AMCA International’s test standards and rating requirements and that published performance ratings are accurate.
The AMCA CRP was developed during the 1930s in response to the need for validated published performance ratings for air-movement and control devices, the communiqué said. Today, more than 275 manufacturers in 30 countries around the world are enrolled in the AMCA CRP, the communiqué further said.
Commenting on the milestone, Mark Stevens, AMCA International Executive Director, said: “The Certified Ratings Program has grown steadily since its inception. Over the last five years, the number of manufacturers with certified products has increased by more than 33%, while the total number of certified products has increased by more than 23%. We are very proud of surpassing 4,000 products. It is a significant milestone for the association and our members.”
According to AMCA, only after a product has been tested and the catalogued ratings approved will an AMCA CRP seal be issued. AMCA CRP seals are affixed to equipment and used in catalogues and sizing/selection software in accordance with procedures set forth in AMCA CRP publications, the communiqué said.
The communiqué said that AMCA has recently launched the AMCA Spec Check mobile app to aid the identification and research of CRP ratings and products. The communiqué further said the app is available in the Apple Store and Google Play for iOS- and Android-based smartphones.
