Dubai, UAE: AESG, the UAE-based consultancy firm specialised in addressing challenges in sustainable urban development, has announced the establishment of a dedicated AESG Environmental division.

The new business arm, said the announcement, has been launched following AESG’s success in environmental consultancy and the growing demand for services in the domain, and will now offer over 11 services essential to helping clients acquire local environmental permits as well as funds from international donor bodies.

AESG Environmental holds Class A status from the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, and is a registered consultant with the Dubai Municipality Environmental Protection and Studies Section, the announcement informed, and added that the division’s studies conform to local and international criteria, which include EAD, DM-EPSS, USEPA, ECGD and ASTM E1527-13.

The new division, AESG claimed, will draw on the strengths of its Sustainability, Commissioning and Energy Efficiency business units, and adopt a multidisciplinary approach to completing projects, guaranteeing quality and efficiency.

Highlighting that while Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) are primarily driven by legislative requirements, they are now also fundamental to securing international financing, AESG said that its new division conducts its EIAs in strict accordance with the requirements of global financing bodies, such as the World Bank or UK Export Finance (ECGD) requirements

“AESG has successfully completed ECGD-compliant EIAs for two UAE projects, which received such international financing,” explained Nivine Issa, Division Lead of AESG.

Saeed Al Abbar, Director at AESG, added: “The Middle East stands together with the world’s leading economies in its commitment to a low-carbon future. Against this backdrop, businesses now have the crucial responsibility of operating in an increasingly environmentally conscientious way.”
