A promising outlook for the HVAC industry in the GCC region
Large-scale government projects to upcoming mega-events, the HVAC sector has the right ingredients for growth

Dubai, UAE: The HVAC sector in the GCC region has been showing tremendous potential in the past few years despite the economic depression it has experienced. According to the latest research, the HVAC sector in the region is touted to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of 7.43% through 2012-2016. Khuldoon Hameed of TransGulf Electromechanical lists a few opportunities that have been propelling growth for the HVAC industry in the region:
- There is diversity in projects in the UAE, both small- and large-scale developments, unlike its counterparts that are heavily invested in oil. As a result of this diversity, the construction industry in initiating innovative projects, such as Green Buildings.
- The upcoming two mega-events – the World EXPO 2020 in the UAE and the FIFA World Cup in 2022 in Qatar – are a boost for the infrastructure and hospitality industry.
- Technological innovations are also fuelling the growth of the sector, as new HVAC systems are being designed to consume less power and be energy-efficient.
- Government regulations mandate replacing old HVAC systems with those meeting environmental specifications, thus giving plenty of opportunity for HVAC companies.
Currently, all market indicators are pointing towards an upward trend for the HVAC industry.
