Etihad ESCO, Daikin partner for JAFZA Package-3 chiller replacement project

Replacement of 15 existing chillers to save 3 million kWh of energy and AED 1.3 million annually for JAFZA (Jebel Ali Free Zone), says company’s representative

Dubai, UAE, 6 February 2019: Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO) recently announced a partnership with Daikin, for the replacement of existing chillers with advanced, energy-efficient chillers, as part of the JAFZA Package-3 energy retrofit project, in a Press communiqué. The agreement was signed by Ali Al Jassim, CEO, Etihad ESCO and Yuji Miyata, Chairman and President, Daikin Middle East and Africa, the communiqué said. Daikin will replace 15 existing chillers with 15 new inverter chillers for 11 JAFZA (Jebel Ali Free Zone) facilities during the project, which will result in an annual energy savings of 3,019,679 kWh, thereby saving JAFZA AED 1,343,757 annually, the communiqué further said.

JAFZA comprises multiple areas, facilities and buildings that house a wide range of business functions, the communiqué said. Etihad ESCO has been working with JAFZA to facilitate its transformation into an energy-efficient zone and had renewed its partnership with JAFZA for Package-3 to retrofit its lease office building and food courts, the communiqué further said. The energy conservation measures proposed by Etihad ESCO, as part of the project, include deep heating, ventilation, air conditioning retrofit and replacement of conventional lights with LED lights, the communiqué added.

Ali Al Jassim, CEO, Etihad ESCO, said: “We are confident of Daikin’s capabilities to contribute to the success of Package-3 chiller replacement project, which will result in significant savings for JAFZA in terms of energy and cost. We are glad to enter into this strategic agreement with Daikin, building on the success of collaborations we have had in the past, to further contribute towards the achievement of 30% reduction in energy demand by 2030, set by the emirate.”
