Carrier spotlights Wi-Fi controls to align with smart city initiatives in the GCC region

Company says the move falls in line with its global push towards IoT appliances
Carrier said it is spotlighting its proactive approach to integrating Wi-Fi controls in many of its domestic products. Giorgio Elia, Vice President and Managing Director, UTC Climate, Controls & Security Middle East, said the company’s efforts are “in line with multiple regional smart city initiatives and are part of a global push towards IoT appliances”. Elaborating on the systems, Elia said the advanced software promises ease of use from initial setup to customisation of comfort schedule and connecting with home networks. “It gives power to control features and functions remotely from a computer, tablet or smart phone,” he said. “At the office or on the road, you can alter your home’s heating and cooling settings for comfort upon arrival using your connected device.” Elia noted that this will help save money on utility costs through programming design, smart recovery and energy use reporting. “You can see when you’re spending the most on utility costs,” he said, “and tailor your settings to reduce your energy use.” He added that the feature emphasises comfort and can make intelligent decisions based on efficiency, preferences and weather forecasts.
