Dubai, UAE, 19 September 2018: MyGreenRank, the flagship app of Energy and Environmental Efficiency Apps (3e Apps), was developed to monitor the consumption of facilities and provide greater transparency to users who wish to optimise operations. Sougata Nandi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, elaborated on the benefits of MyGreenRank and the ethos behind its design.

“MyGreenRank (MGR) aims to bridge the gap between energy efficiency through technology and energy efficiency through social involvement. The app makes everything visible for the user or the building occupant,” he said. “If I’m living in a villa, I have no idea how much is my utility consumption and at what time. Smart meters collect data on energy, water and chilled water (and other utilities as applicable) consumption, on an hourly basis and this goes to an app. With the help of the app, I can figure out what time of the day my consumption is high, or even zero, and it gives me visibility behaviour.” The app, he said, is vital for anyone looking to optimise consumption and it helps people make informed decisions, in addition to helping project and predict consumption, based on historical archived data. “MGR also enables users to compare the utility consumption of their facilities, with other facilities of similar nature, using homogenous KPIs like kWh/sq.m. This visibility and comparability drives greater change. We want the end-users to decide how to keep driving utility reductions, whether through technological upgrades, or simple behavioural changes or a combination of both.”

On a smaller scale, Nandi said, it can help people gain a deeper understanding on the impact an individual’s behavioural pattern has on the environment and, in the event that they take action, what sort of impact they are having. “If I change my light bulbs to something more energy efficient, or switch off my AC, I do not know what my impact is. I cannot measure it, I just assume that the consumption and footprint is going down. Psychologically, it is normal that once a user upgrades to efficient devices, the tendency would be to keep operating these devices, even when not needed.”

Currently, the app has been commercially deployed, though it is not downloadable from the Google Play Store, as it has to be integrated with the smart meters. Nandi said that the company app continues to evolve, as they add features that make it more robust, user-friendly and adaptable to the market.
